think before subscribing to GIRAFFE LEARNING, BANGALORE

I had my son subscribed to Ist and IInd PUC and CET 2009 coaching. At first during 2007, when I called "Giraffe Learning " Bangalore representative for information, the representative along with a colourful brochure, asked me to pay Rs.1000/- as seat reservation fee , by saying that only few seats were available and the seats were allotted on first come first basis. Believing him, I paid the amount by cheque and booked the seat. Later when I visited GIRAFFE LEARNING office, one Mr. Sanjay, a representative of the Giraffe Learning told that the institution will take entire tuition fees for I PUC, II PUC and CET 2009 at a stretch and did not accept I P U C tuition fees only. It was told to me that it was a package for the entire I and II PUC and CET 2009 and no bifurcation would be allowed. I asked them that if I did not liked their services at the end of I PUC, I cannot migrate to other options as my money would get blocked . Mr. Sanjay said that the Giraffe Institution was the best institution and only fortunate people would be getting a seat. Further it was also told to me that there would be no occassion for any complaints whatsover from any students. Believing him, though my son was pleading for getting into BASE Institution, Bangalore, I forced him to get enrolled to GIRAFFE LEARNING and paid the entire tuition fee of Rs.30000/- and odd as tuition fees. .

At the end of I PUC, the result of my son in final examination was so horrible that on enquiry, I was told that the tuitions given by GIRAFFE LEARNING was not upto the mark which resulted in his failure to secure good marks. On further enquiry, my son said that he had problems with the maths teacher and his way of teaching. When I enquired about this in the GIRAFFE LEARNING office, Mr. Sanjay the correspondent said that he would look into the matter and after some time, a lady telephone operator called me over my phone and started to speak as if the fault was from my son's side. My son after coming to know about this, again requested me to discontinue from GIRAFE LEARNING and to allow him to take up private tuition with sepearte independent teachers. When I asked GIRAFFE LEARNING to discontinue my son's tuition with GIRAFFE LEARNING and asked for refund of II PU C and CET tuition amount, they stated that no refunds would be made. Worried about the losing of tuition fees coupled with the additional burden of new tuition fee to be paid to new independent teachers, I requested my son to somehow cope up and finish II PUC and CET 2009 with GIRAFFE LEARNING itself, hoping that coaching for II PUC may improve.

When the II PUC examination time nearned, I again enquired about the status about the coachng at GIRAFFE LEARNING . I was worried to find that even in the II PUC, the problem with Maths teacher continued and the coaching in MATHS was not again up to the mark. My son's academic performance throughout the II PU C was again in bad shape almost driving him to a mental depression.
Hence I am writing all this to atleast to put other people on guard. I hereby suggest those who intend to take up tuitions at GIRAFFE LEARNING may first read this and later decide about booking their seat.
1. At first please do not get panicked by the sayings of the GIRAFFE LEARNING representatives that there are only few seats available and book your seat. My son was saying that even after the classes were started, there were still so many seats available and getting filled.

2. Do Not take up for entire I PUC, II PUC and CET package as foolishly done by me . TAke only one year at a time so that if your ward is not satisfied about the coaching he would always have an option to opt to other forums available next year.
3. Try to collect information from the college your ward is studying and if required, get him the individual teachers tuitions for each subject rather asking him to go to tutorials like GIRAFFE LEARNING . In this way, your ward will get individual attention and best possible coaching.
